Hanuman Chalisa 40 Day Online Sadhana

Hanuman Chalisa 40 Day Online Sadhana

November 9 - December 18, 2021

Join Govind Das and Rob (Rama Chandra Das) as your tour guides through the rich devotional tapestry of the Chalisa. Every day during the Zoom satsang, Govind Das and Rob will sequentially introduce a new line for study and memorization, proper pronunciation, share stories about Hanuman-ji, and, of course, sing the Chalisa!

The Hanuman Chalisa is a devotional hymn/prayer written by the Bhakti saint Tulsidas 500 years ago. For the past 5 centuries, the Chalisa has been a central prayer in the Bhakti Yoga tradition praising and glorifying Lord Hanuman, the divine monkey and pure embodiment of love, service, devotion, humility, strength and protection.

This is a great opportunity to learn the Hanuman Chalisa in community and friendship, with structure and guidance. Jai Sita Ram! Jai Hanuman! PS. Even if you already know the Chalisa, this will be a wonderful chance to deepen your relationship and connection with Hanuman and this inspiring practice!

Love Service Devotion:
A Hanuman Chalisa Immersion

February 28th - March 1st, 2026 • 9am - 5pm

Temple of Joy
Encinitas, California

Join us for a sacred weekend immersion into the Hanuman Chalisa, one of the most beloved devotional prayers of the bhakti tradition. Love Service Devotion is an invitation to step beyond fear and limitation and into trust, courage, and wholehearted devotion—guided by the example of Hanuman, the embodiment of faith in action.

Over the course of the weekend, Govind Das and Rama Chandra Das will offer heartfelt teachings, stories from the Ramayana, and contemplative reflections that illuminate the deeper meaning of the Chalisa—line by line and through lived experience. Through chanting the Chalisa, Kirtan, Japa Meditation, discussion and shared inquiry, we will explore how Hanuman’s surrender, strength, and humility can become living principles in our own lives.

This immersion is designed not only to deepen understanding, but to awaken personal relationship with the Chalisa as a daily companion—one that supports us through doubt, challenge, service, and transformation. Together we will explore what it means to take a true leap of faith: trusting the heart, offering ourselves in service, and allowing grace to carry us forward.

This retreat is open to all—whether you are new to the Hanuman Chalisa or have been chanting it for years. Come as you are, and leave nourished, inspired, and rooted more deeply in devotion.

***This is a non-residential retreat. Participants will find their own accommodations if coming from out of town. There are plenty of hotels, motels and Airbnb’s in the area. Kichari will be served both days for lunch.
